EXPERIENCE AND PRACTICE AREAS

Greg MacKenzie was admitted to practice before the New Mexico courts in 1993 and has been working as a litigation lawyer since that time. For the past eight years, Greg has devoted virtually all of his practice to representing clients in estate and trust litigation. This includes representing clients who are contesting or defending the validity of wills, trusts and other estate planning documents and those who are involved in litigation over the administration of estates and trusts.

Greg also frequently handles litigation in contested guardianships and conservatorships and has been appointed by the Second Judicial District court to serve as guardian ad litem for incapacitated adults involved in those types of proceedings.

In addition to his work as a litigator, Greg has been a presenter at several continuing legal education seminars, and he served as president of the Albuquerque Lawyers Club. Greg is rated "B-V" by Martindale-Hubbell.

Having completed the 40-hour mediator training course through the UNM School of Law, Greg has served as a mediator in cases involving contested trusts, probates and guardianships and conservatorships.

Greg graduated in 1990 from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (B.A. - magna cum laude), and he obtained his law degree and M.A. in anthropology from Syracuse University in 1993.

Some of Greg's recent activities include serving as Arbitrator for the Client Attorney Assistance Program, State Bar of New Mexico; Treasurer for the New Mexico Guardianship Association; Lobbyist for the New Mexico Guardianship Association; Participant in the House Joint Memorial 34 Task Force to Review Guardianship Issues; and Author and Presenter of "Discharging Trustee Liability," for the 2007 NM Probate Seminar.
